Bread worth getting up early for.

Naturally leavened bread, baked before sunrise. Sourdough, laminated pastry and seasonal galettes from regional flour, on Mill Street.

Slow dough, small batches, one oven.

Every loaf starts two days before you buy it. We mix with flour milled a few counties away, let the dough ferment slowly overnight in the cold, and bake it in a single brick-lined deck oven before sunrise.

That schedule means we make a fixed amount each day, and when it is gone we close the case. If you want to be sure of a loaf, call ahead and we will set one aside with your name on it.

  • Regional, stone-milled flour
  • No commercial yeast in our sourdough
  • Day-old bread donated to the Riverton food pantry

Questions we hear a lot

Can I preorder bread?

Yes. Call or email by 2 p.m. the day before and we will hold your order at the counter until noon.

What time does bread sell out?

On weekends the sourdough is usually gone by 11 a.m. Weekday mornings are calmer; preordering guarantees a loaf.

Do you have gluten-free options?

No. Everything is baked in one room full of wheat flour, so we cannot promise anything is safe for celiac guests.

Do you supply restaurants and cafés?

We bake wholesale bread for a small number of local kitchens, delivered Tuesday to Saturday. Email us for the wholesale list.

Is there parking?

Free street parking on Mill Street and a public lot one block east on Second Avenue.
